Dr.Richard Miller, DVM -- Photo by Marc Scrivo DR. ROBERT MILLER returns to the Big Island for HAWAII HORSE EXPO 2010. This will be Dr. Miller’s 43rd trip to the islands – every one as a speaker at an equine event or veterinary conference. Dr. Miller says, "It is the attitude of the people I love. The Aloha Spirit is a very real thing!"
Since Dr. Miller’s appearance here last year he and his wife, Debbie, have been constantly traveling … lecturing on "Imprint Training" and Equine Behavior … not only in the United States but also in Poland, Hungary, Spain and Canada. At this year’s Hawaii Horse Expo Dr. Miller will be lecturing on “The Senior Horse” covering in depth issues of diet, exercise, special care and end of life issues (seniors are considered 20 and older). Dr. Miller will also present his "Safety First" demonstration based upon a lifetime of working with equine patients, some quite difficult.

DALE MYLER, one of the World’s foremost experts on bitting, returns for this year’s expo. Since Dale’s last visit to the Big Island he has been busy traveling, lecturing and helping people with their horses, as well as making custom bits. Here are just a few of the things he has done: worked with the Mounted Patrol and their horses in Omaha, Nebraska and Kansas City, Missouri; been the featured guest on two of Julie Goodnight’s television shows; traveled to England and Scotland to work with Eventers, Jumpers and Dressage riders; and appeared at major Horse Fairs in Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and California.
At this year’s Hawaii Horse Expo Dale will conduct all day clinics and will be available for consultations so you can find the perfect bit for your horse.
Dale lives in Springfield, Missouri where he and his brothers, Ron and Bob, train their own horses and run Myler’s Inc. Bits & Spurs.

Tammy Pate TAMMY PATE is the quintessential cowgirl. Born into a Montana ranching family, Tammy’s father was a rodeo steer wrestler who spent his free time teaching Tammy and her sisters all he knew about horsemanship and riding. Tammy’s grandmother, Betty, instilled in her the deep values of ranching life, a reverence for nature and the practical skills ranching families needed for the demands of their rural lives.
Tammy met her husband, Curt Pate, at a rodeo. She was competing and he was announcing. It was love at first sight, they got married and Tammy followed Curt into the demanding life of managing a cow camp. Together they developed innovative, gentle ways of training horses and managing livestock. During this time, Tammy raised their children, literally, in the saddle, carrying them with her on horseback to work with Curt on the ranch.
These rich experiences along with a growing interest in yoga, and the benefits of yoga on the equestrian body, have led Tammy to share her knowledge and develop her INTUITIVE HORSEMANSHIP program. Tammy’s work has recently been featured in "Western Horseman" and in "American Horse".
